This past week, Fidelity Investments hosted its 3rd annual CloudX conference for over 20,000 technologists across the globe! The theme of this year’s event was “Enabling Fidelity’s Digital Future.”  The goal of CloudX was to provide technologists with engaging learning opportunities so they can increase their cloud knowledge and skills.  All Fidelity technologists are invited to this hybrid event; so even if you are not specifically in a cloud role at Fidelity, you are given the opportunity to listen to some amazing speakers, network, attend strategic learning breakout sessions and participate in workshops either in person at our Westlake, TX campus or virtually over Zoom.

Our associates had the opportunity to choose sessions that interest them; and over the course of 2 days, they attended a combination of keynotes from Fidelity technology leaders and industry experts, panel discussions and breakout sessions delivered by our best and brightest cloud & platform engineers, and hands-on workshops to practice skills alongside experienced peers.

One attendee, Roopa, a Director of Talent and Learning at Fidelity, expressed why she is excited to go to CloudX each year, “CloudX is a signature learning event offered at Fidelity. It really brings together internal and external industry experts to talk about some of the trending technology topics and offers a plethora of learning sessions for our associates to choose from. We really promote a strong learning culture and I’m glad that events like CloudX bring everything together in one place across these two days”.

Another attendee, Senior Cloud Engineer, Rory came to Cloud X “because of the exciting keynotes around subjects that are very important to what I work on. We talked about AI, open-source contribution, and our role in industry leading orgs. Fidelity is an exciting place to be!”.

There was also a wide array of topics available to attendees at CloudX.  Topics ranged from cloud and container security to observability tools to chaos engineering best practices to the firm’s FinOps practice that helps get the most value out of every dollar spent in the cloud.  There was an open source workshop to support first time contributors as well as “how-to” discussions with Fidelity business units that have successfully migrated to the cloud.

Keynote speakers included Fidelity’s CTO, Roger Stiles and Joe Frazier Head of Cloud and Platform Engineering. In addition, GitHub’s CEO Thomas Dohmke joined to discuss the future of software development with AI-powered tools.  Chris Aniszczyk, CTO of Cloud Native Computing Foundation, took Fidelity associates through the evolution of cloud native computing.  And Gartner analyst Arun Chandrasekaran delivered unique and timely insights on enterprise implications of Generative AI.

With over 17,000 total registrations for the 46 sessions offered across the United States, India, Ireland and China, CloudX is just one example of how Fidelity invests in the growth and development of its associates.  Interested in attending next year?   Apply to our tech opportunities today!
