In early September, Fidelity hosted our inaugural internal conference, TechX! Our technologists showcased the work, platforms and tools that power our business. Rooted in curiosity, connection and community, the goal of TechX is to highlight how our technology is improving our customer and associate experiences and moving Fidelity forward. While this event is centered around technology, it was open to all Fidelity associates.
Associates from all over the globe participated and joined this event! You could join in-person, virtually from home or attend a “watch party” from your regional office. TechX was filled with a lot of learning! The day consisted of nine tech-focused sessions, four general sessions, an incredible keynote speaker, and an engaging fireside chat with Chairman and CEO, Abby Johnson and the Head of Technology and Global Services, Roger Stiles.
The logistics of the day went like this: in the morning, associates settled in with their coffee and breakfast at the “welcome event” to chat and network with fellow tech associates and leaders before diving into the many learning opportunities. Next, were some amazing learning sessions around cybersecurity, a day in the life of a Fidelity associate (powered by tech), low code, open-source contribution, artificial intelligence (AI), allyship in action and more!
One technologist, Justine, elaborates, “The event covered such a wide range of topics from artificial intelligence to allyship and even delved into the subject of neurodiversity. The sessions that I found were most informative and enjoyable were the fireside chat with Abby Johnson, Fidelity Blueprint, and the keynote presentation on the power of connectional intelligence. I walked away from the keynote session with several helpful ideas that I can implement to improve my ability to effectively communicate with the squad.”
A major highlight of the day was when our own Chairman and CEO, Abby Johnson, joined our Head of Technology and Global Services, Roger Stiles, for a candid discussion on the progress we’re making in tech at Fidelity and what she feels is important for us to consider going forward.
Our technologists and associates were thrilled to hear from Abby. “These conversations will be informative as we move forward to understand the drivers of technology spending. Abby’s insight was great. Her comments and feedback were very transparent and authentic”, comments one associate, Gregory.
The day continued with more networking sessions, breaks with refreshments, and learning sessions.
As the event concluded, one of our technologists summed the day up perfectly “The future of Technology at Fidelity is bright, and I am excited to be part of it and to learn and expand.” We are grateful to our 100+ volunteers who put the effort into creating this amazing event and to the thousands of Fidelity associates who joined and participated in this unforgettable day!
