Jaime Mendez, a Portfolio Specialist located in our Merrimack, NH office, has been with Fidelity for about two years. Jaime had thought about working at Fidelity since college when he was writing papers on the mutual fund industry. Read his story:

Q: What made you choose to work at Fidelity for your career?

Jaime: I knew I wanted to work for a leading company in the investment industry but felt a little intimidated. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I decided to take a chance and apply. I came to the interview with an eager and open mind about what I wanted to truly pursue, shared the skillsets I had acquired along the way in my career, and with the help of the recruiters, we found the role that best fit my strengths and make the greatest impact.

Q: What is one thing you think someone should know about working at Fidelity in a licensed role?

Jaime: As a licensed professional, you’re in a position that can really make an impact on our clients’ investment decisions. Once you’re with Fidelity, they make sure you are equipped with all the resources you need to be successful at helping clients meet their financial goals.

Q: What type of support, resources, and training does Fidelity offer, and why is that important?

Jaime: Every client is different and each client has unique circumstances. At first when I came to Fidelity, I thought I would feel overwhelmed and lost. But in addition to the amazing training and resources that Fidelity gives us, there is always an incredible support team of experienced specialists to help with any of the daily challenges. It was so important to me to feel that I had, at “arm’s reach”, a team to support and properly train me so that I can give clients my best service.

Q: What is something about your day-to-day work that is unique to Fidelity?

Jaime: Even though these past few months has been challenging for us all due to the COVID pandemic, our team remains as close as ever before. It’s hard to describe, but there is a unique culture of genuine caring at Fidelity that I have never experienced at any of the other companies I worked for in the past.

Q: How have you grown in your career at Fidelity?

Jaime: No doubt that with a new career, there is always a learning curve. But once you move past that, you’ll start running on all cylinders again. You should have confidence that a company has hired you because they believe in you, and Fidelity does an excellent job recognizing good work. I’d say that because of that, within a short period of time, I was promoted to a new role.

Q: If you could give one piece of advice to someone considering a career with Fidelity, what would you say?

Jaime: Pretty simple. If you’re like me, passionate about working with clients, feed off of a collaborative team environment, and want to work for one of the top leading investment companies, there’s no better place than Fidelity.
