With today’s technology evolving at such a rapid pace, it’s vital to invest in ongoing education and professional development to remain competitive within the industry. What’s considered “cutting edge” today may not be relevant tomorrow.

Learning Days at Fidelity is our firm’s commitment to fostering a learning culture to continuously improve as individuals, teams, and an agile organization. Learning Days are dedicated time for tech associates to build skills and knowledge in the way that works best for them and their teams, whether that’s through an e-learning course, a career coaching session, shadowing a colleague or mentor in meetings, or something else that fits their needs.

Tuesday is the preferred Learning Day across Fidelity, which can help facilitate cross business unit participation and collaboration; however, there is flexibility, and technologists or groups may choose to learn differently based off schedules or business needs.

Aside from the business vitality of staying up to date and competitive within the technology space, Learning Days are beneficial to networking, team building, and collaborating with peers.  A perfect example of someone who emulates the value for investing in team collaboration is Leah, Senior Cybersecurity Tester/Assessor in our Fidelity Technology Group.

With the industry changing at such a rapid pace, you need to be ahead of the game. I think Learning Days are important, as well as valuable. It provides employees with regular scheduled training to support increased skills, making them more productive.

As mentioned, Fidelity associates have flexibility to learn however works best for them; Leah tends to use her Learning Days by audibly listening to content, visually through books, listening to speakers and using a vast array of different tools and applications, all made available through Fidelity. A specific subject that Leah is currently participating in for her dedicated “Learning Day” is an 11 week “Aspire to Lead” program with her colleague, Natalia. Aspire is Fidelity’s Employee Resource Group focused on the professional and personal experiences of Latinx and Black Fidelity associates.
