What’s one word that comes to mind when you reflect on your professional journey? Naveen, a cloud security specialist at Fidelity, immediately thought, “Whoa!” Naveen grew up in a small farming village in India where the most advanced technology he had access to was a radio. Fast forward years later, Naveen immigrated to the United States to complete his graduate degree in Information Systems and accepted a full-time job in Technology at Fidelity. Naveen elaborates that he thinks, “Whoa!” when reflecting on his path to Fidelity, because of his journey to get here. He feels grateful to work for a company that has a great work culture, flexibility in traveling with numerous office locations across the country, and the daily positive energy from his teammates.
It goes without saying that moving to a new country & starting a new job where you may not speak the native language can be intimidating and overwhelming. With Naveen’s journey to Fidelity, he wants to encourage other immigrants and international students to consider a role within the Technology group here because of the support he received and the amount of people he has met who are also not originally from the U.S.
Naveen was most nervous about communicating with other team members. However, he quickly realized that his team could clearly understand him, and he was able to network with other diverse associates who shared similar experiences. Naveen credits the ease of his transition into Fidelity to his “interest and enthusiasm levels” to get involved and dive into work with his team.
