Participating in Fidelity’s Internship Program allowed us to experience a transformative journey early in our professional careers. As both rising juniors at Brown University, we were captivated by Fidelity’s commitment to pushing boundaries, fostering collaboration, and investing in talent.
Jakobi:
As tech interns, we’re constantly surrounded with opportunities to learn new things — whether that’s a new front-end framework or a customer need. As someone who is really passionate about crypto, the opportunity for us to visit headquarters and meet up with executives at Fidelity Digital Assets to learn about their business model and visions for the crypto industry was truly incredible.
The highlight of my internship experience has been the large-scale impact of my changes. It’s really rewarding to see your work released to a website with millions of users. As a student, your projects never reach that level of scale. Now I can go back to my schoolwork and think, ‘Wow, the concepts that I’m learning here will impact millions.’ It gives me great autonomy and drive!
Melvin:
Fidelity fosters collaboration through a suite of engaging networking programs such as the Fidelity Young Professional Network, Affinity Group mentorship, technical coaches, and other FIDTERN events. These programs bring together professionals from finance, consulting, marketing, technology, and other areas, allowing us to gain valuable insights into the diverse facets of the innovative work here.
Our technical coach, managers, and team have all been incredibly supportive this summer. Jakobi and I were able to learn new technologies such as Angular, AWS, Jenkins, Sitecore, and Terraform, and ultimately use what we’ve learned to contribute to a project that will greatly expand the marketability and modernization of the Fidelity Institutional website.
We also learned about the LEAP program where recent college graduates are trained for four months in everything they need to know to be successful technologists. I’ve heard so many great things about the program from my Affinity Group mentor, technical coach, and even Brown alumni I’ve met here at Fidelity. They all mentioned the immersive, personalized coaching and career vitality they’ve gained through the program. It was the perfect bridge from college to career for them.
Fidelity’s dedication to continuous learning also allowed me to get AWS Cloud certified during my internship, acquiring a high-impact skill. By combining cutting-edge technologies, fostering connections across business units, and providing robust career guidance, Fidelity equips interns with the skills and support to thrive in their professional journeys!
